When we’re in grade school we’re forced to read the classics. More often than not we never enjoyed it. It was forced on us to do it. We’d read other things for fun. Then, however, we’ll stumble on a classic that we read in school. Instead we read it for pleasure, falling for it.
Could classical music the same way? We’re forced to play it. More often than not we never enjoyed it. Again, it was forced on us.
But what if we could teach that classical music was something worth loving and not simply learning? We could get that same reaction one gets when they read a classic out of the classroom: passion, pleasure, and happiness.
Perhaps it’s about bringing that out of classroom joy into the classroom.
