(Why) Clap Your Hands

Applauding after a performance seems almost second nature to us. It goes beyond concert etiquette and into the unconscious.

Yet I wonder if we applaud because we have to or because we want to, because the music stopped or because the music brought out so much humanity that applauding is the only immediate means to express gratitude.

Let’s applaud with genuine purpose.
