There is a magical moment at a musical performance when we’re in between songs or movements.
The audience is soaking in what they just heard, envisioning in their minds the past musical riches that just flowed through them. At the same time they are looking forward, anticipating that movement they love in this symphony or being open to the new possibilities of a piece they haven’t heard before.
The musician is letting what just happened drift through, ignoring the mistakes she could have changed and not reveling in the awesomeness of what she did right. She is looking forward to the next movement, the piece that she will be performing next.
So much going through everyone’s head and yet not talked about much at all!
Perhaps that could change.
