To Be Mozart (For 3 Minutes)

Cosplaying is odd at first glance. People dressing up as characters from animated television and graphic novels? Why go through the trouble?

Cosplayers go through the trouble because they’re drawn to the character. There is a connection, a bond so strong that the only outward way to express it is through posing as their hero. And when you have hundreds of people doing this? An anime convention.

Now why is cosplaying strange? Musicians do it all the time. No, they don’t wear a powdered wig and pretend to be Mozart. What they do is play his music for an audience. The connection a pianist has with Mozart is so strong that the only outward way to express it is through posing as her hero. His music works as a sort of costume.

And when you have hundreds of people doing this? Classical music.
